Success is a journey

The Daisy May Collection is a brand new company started by Carron in 2003, after a friend who had requested money and vouchers and not gifts for her wedding said that she was worried about the envelopes and cards getting lost or damaged, so she asked Carron if she could make her a box for their guests to put them into.

Carron, who was heavily pregnant at the time and very disappointed at not being able to be her friends Bridesmaid, wanted to make something very special for her. She discussed this with her partner Matt and between them they came up with this fantastic unique post box personalised to Carrons friend and her fiance.

When her friend saw The Post Box she cried and said “Oh my goodness Carron, it’s beautiful, I was only expecting a box with a hole in it”.

The very next day after her friends wedding Carron gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named River. If Carron had had a little girl she was to be called “Daisy May”. Hence the name for her business.
So at the same time as the birth of River, The Daisy May Collection was born.

Although overjoyed with motherhood, Carron could not forget the comments that had been made at the wedding about her Post Box and decided to look into maybe starting up her own business.
After endless research and phone calls, which took nearly a year to do, Carron patented her idea and then approached The Princes Trust to see if they would help her to get started.

This was a very nerve racking experience for Carron who had to stand up and sell her product to a panel of Judges representing the Princes Trust. The panel of Judges were very impressed and clearly overwhelmed with Carrons product and with Carron herself, actually calling her “A Ray of Sunshine and the Star of the Night”. They not only gave her a loan but a grant as well to help her on her way.

Carrons idea does not stop at weddings. She can also accommodate for ANY OCCASION - to name but a few - Birthdays, (adults or children's) Christenings, Anniversary’s, etc etc.

The first boxes, mainly for friends, and family were assembled in her mums conservatory, but Carron now has a small office come workshop to operate from and is already looking to acquire larger premises to accommodate future orders.

Something amazing happened at her son Rivers first birthday party. The adults all had a Chinese take-away and restaurant sent along some Fortune Cookies. Everyone was amazed when Carron opened hers and it said: “DAISY IS YOUR LUCKY FLOWER” and believe it or not it was received in the month of MAY!!!
